Life is a journey and we do not know where it will take us…
My story, that I have called ‘Once Upon a Paddock’, began life purely to preserve my memories in case there came a time when I could not share them. I have had some wonderful times over the years, and now is the time to share some of these moments.As they say in the classics, life is a journey and we do not know where it will take us. I never for a minute thought I would have a book published, let alone thirteen children’s books. I never in my early years dreamed I would invent little characters called Wobbies who could also have a huge impact on my life, and take me on their amazing journey of development and creativity.
Please enjoy these early memories of mine, as I enjoyed writing them.
Story One: The Wobbie And The Caterpillars

What’s under your woodheap?
Mine is very special. It is the home of what I call “Woobies”
One day, Jedda and I found the Wobbies by accident.Each Wobby is a very pretty, powder blue, furry creature that is smaller than a speck of fairy dust. They live under some very old timber in a very old woodheap.
That’s why they are so hard to see.
They have pouches to carry their babies and get about on their very short legs.
They have lives very much like ours. They can read and write, build homes, and be as inventive as we are.
They fly on Magimats, attend school and play sports. Their town is so cute.
Like us, they have adventures, They have fun, they have their little dramas, and do not mind if I am near them. Each Wobby is so special. I am sure you will enjoy their stories and adventures as much as I do.
Story Two: The Wobbies Get A Lake

If you haven't heard of or seen the wobbies living under my woodheap yet, you're missing out!!
You see, a while ago Jedda (my dog) and I found the Wobbies by accident. Each Wobby is a very pretty, powder blue, furry creature that is smaller than a speck of fairy dust.
Living under my very old woodheap, they get about on their very short legs, some carrying their babies in their pouches.
But what happens when a great big storm threatens their very existence? And I have to come to their rescue!
Like us, the Wobbies have their fears and must be inventive if they are to survive.
Each Wobby is so special.
I can't imagine a world without them, so join me as we once again go in and magnify their world and see how they deal with a storm that could easily wash them away forever.
I am sure you will enjoy this new adventure as much as I did when I first saw it happening right before my magnifying glass!
Story Three: The Wobbies Ride A Rainbow

Can Wobbies Actually Ride A Rainbow?
I know my cute little Wobbies are delightful, cute and clever. They are able to make the most of the tiny microscopic world that surrounds them. But, to actually RIDE A RAINBOW?
Pholci soon found himself pinned down by one of his eight feet. His other seven were not enough to get him out of trouble. My wonderful Wobbies were soon there to rescue him. However, this was not without danger to themselves, as they could have easily been on Pholci’s menu, or crushed by falling logs.
Yes, that pretty, softly coloured arc in the sky that fades all too quickly. We have all seen a rainbow at some time.
Only recently I watched as the Wobbies actually used their magimats and rode a rainbow. The delicate, fragile mesh of coloured water droplets was the perfect playground for them.
Follow the pages through my world of enchantment, and you too can see the magic happen.
Story Four: A Very Wobby Christmas

We all know the magic of Christmas spreads everywhere.
It even creeps underneath my woodheap to the Wobbies’ village.
This is true because I have seen it. I have seen lots of tiny Xips in Santa Xip’s workshop making gifts for the Wobbies world wide. I have seen the glorious Djucks harnessed to Santa’s gleish, and loaded with a never ending supply of sparkling stardust ready for the Christmas delivery run.
I have seen the beautifully decorated moss trees, and the brightly wrapped gifts laid beneath it. It is all a part of a warm and wonderful Wobby Christmas captured between the pages of this book.

Story Five: The Wobbies Meet Phol Ci Dae

Is Phol Ci Dae A Danger To The Wobbies?
Pholci Dae is a sweet natured ‘Daddy Long Legs’ spider. The Wobbies met Pholci when he strayed by their village.
Pholci soon found himself pinned down by one of his eight feet. His other seven were not enough to get him out of trouble. My wonderful Wobbies were soon there to rescue him. However, this was not without danger to themselves, as they could have easily been on Pholci’s menu, or crushed by falling logs.
The Wobbies could hear Pholci’s belly loudly rumble like thunder as they worked tirelessly to free him. Wobby technology and know- how was put to good use.

I used to. I never knew the answer until one very special day I went Wobby watching at my woodheap.
Pholci soon found himself pinned down by one of his eight feet. His other seven were not enough to get him out of trouble. My wonderful Wobbies were soon there to rescue him. However, this was not without danger to themselves, as they could have easily been on Pholci’s menu, or crushed by falling logs.
That day, a beautiful little fairy actually hatched. She was very lucky to survive. Without the help of the Wobbies and Pholci Dae, this story would have had a different ending. I was very lucky to see this amazing event happen.

Story Seven: A Wonderful Wobby Circus

Everyone Loves A Circus.
The colour, sparkling sequins, music and breathtaking acts always leave us in awe and wanting more. But, there has never been a circus like a Wobby circus.
With the beautiful golden pollen on the ground in the circus ring, safety nets made from white ant innards, and cages woven from the finest gossamer spider web Pholci Dae could produce. Not to mention the clowns and the fun they bring, and many more acts that defy logic.

Even the nights remain very hot. So how does Santa do his ‘Aussie Christmas Run,’ if his Santa suit is too hot to wear, and his reindeer would almost melt away?
Well, Australia is the only country in the world where Santa will harness up his six white Boomers, and ‘dress down’ for his special task of delivering gifts to the kids of the outback.

It’s a big universe out there. Even the brightest, smartest scientists don’t know exactly how life began on Earth and Mars. BUT, I’ve got the answer. I can’t tell you how I got it – it’s a secret. But, I reckon the Boolus people who live on Mars, will soon come out of the Earth’s shadow and share their part of the secret. The Boolus are a very gentle, brave, clever race of beings, still needing more land to live on.
I am sure the Boolus people will find a place in your heart also, especially when you read the wonderful, dramatic adventure two special individuals undertook to create a new home on Earth. The whole race almost made it. They are known as Martians.
Not You Mildew
